Ah, Pete Roskam, Republican Representative of IL-06 and "champion" of the environment. Don't listen to me, Pete's all over the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative that he darn near single handedly saved. Listen to him tell of his endless bravery standing up to Trump on the issue:
After weeks of advocacy and meetings with senior administration officials, Peter successfully restored full funding for the GLRI. Illinoisans no longer had to worry that their drinking water or the environment they cherish were at risk.
Regardless of party or affiliation, Peter has demonstrated he will always stand up for the health of the environment and the well-being of the residents of the Sixth District.
Now, call me silly, but I'm guessing that just about every Representative from the area was calling for the same thing - and bet most of them were Democrats:
In a letter sent to the House appropriations leadership, 23 Republicans and 40 Democrats in Congress requested that the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative be funded at its fully authorized level in next year's Interior, Environment and Related Agencies Appropriations Bill.
Now, it's not like Pete Roskam doesn't indeed stand up to Trump. Pete Roskam votes with Trump 93.5% of the time, so hey there's 6.5% he stood up right there in the math! But at least Roskam voted the right way for once. Any by once, that's probably about it on the environment...
